Towel rails can use a heating element, or be connected to your central heating system. If the latter, it only works when your central heating is on, so not the best option if you want to use it in the summer, but don’t want the entire house to heat up, too!

Your towel rail can sit anywhere you like, but it’s usually recommended to place this on the coldest wall in the room. This is where it’s most heat and energy-efficient, and helps keep the rest of the bathroom toasty and warm all year round.
